Helping Small Businesses Build Stronger Operations and Healthier Businesses

Small businesses matter.

They make up 99.9% of businesses in the United States and generate nearly half of our nation’s economic activity. More importantly, they form the backbone of communities across the country.

Small business owners sponsor the little league team. They support local nonprofits and churches. They create jobs in their communities. They buy from other local businesses. They invest their time, money, and energy into places they care deeply about.

Strong small businesses help create strong communities.

Variance Point Advisory was built on the belief that small and mid-sized businesses deserve access to experienced operational leadership and practical business guidance—not just large corporations or private equity-backed companies.

Why This Matters to Me

Before launching Variance Point Advisory, I spent years leading operations in complex healthcare organizations. But long before that—and alongside that work—I was involved in building and operating small businesses across several industries.

Those businesses included work in:

  • waterworks and utility services

  • lawn care

  • residential remodeling

  • agriculture

  • nonprofit consulting

  • healthcare advisory

Some were successful. Some were harder than expected. All of them taught valuable lessons about the realities small business owners face every day.

I understand what it feels like when:

  • cash flow gets tight

  • hiring becomes difficult

  • growth creates stress

  • everything depends on the owner

  • operational problems keep repeating

  • there never seems to be enough time

That experience shapes the way I work with clients today.

What I do

I help growing businesses improve operations, strengthen accountability, and build systems that allow the business to grow without creating constant chaos.

In practical terms, that may include:

  • identifying operational bottlenecks

  • improving workflows and communication

  • developing useful KPIs and reporting

  • creating better management structure

  • helping leadership teams stay aligned

  • improving operational consistency

  • supporting growth and expansion efforts

  • reducing operational friction that hurts profitability

Some clients need a one-time operational assessment. Others need ongoing advisory support. Some need a fractional COO partner to help guide execution and accountability over time.

Who I typically work with

I work best with owner-led businesses that are successful enough to have real operational complexity, but not large enough to justify hiring a full-time executive team.

That often includes businesses in:

  • trades and home services

  • healthcare and therapy

  • agriculture

  • logistics and transportation

  • manufacturing

  • professional services

  • family-owned businesses

Most clients are businesses that have reached a point where the owner knows:

“The way we’ve always done things isn’t going to support the next stage of growth.”

My approach

I’m not interested in selling generic business coaching or theoretical consulting.

My approach is practical, collaborative, and focused on execution.

The goal is to help businesses:

  • operate more effectively

  • improve visibility into performance

  • create healthier accountability

  • reduce unnecessary stress

  • improve profitability

  • build systems that support long-term growth

Sometimes small changes create meaningful improvements. Sometimes larger operational changes are needed. Either way, the work starts with understanding the business, the people, and the realities owners are dealing with every day.

Let’s Talk

If your business is growing but operations feel increasingly difficult to manage—or if you simply want an experienced outside perspective—I’d be glad to have a conversation.

No pressure. No sales pitch. Just a discussion about your business, your goals, and whether I may be able to help.
